Danbury Mint cars

MBI began business in 1969 under the name The Danbury Mint, which was then a subsidiary of Glendinning Companies. Danbury Mint cars was the brainchild of Ted Stanley and a small team of experienced marketing managers.

Its mission was to market fine collectibles directly to the consumer, and its first product was a series of 21 medals commemorating the historic 1969 moon landing. The series was an outstanding success, and the Danbury Mint's product line later expanded to include jewelry, sports collectibles, diecast cars and other heirloom-quality collectibles.

MBI launched the Easton Press in 1975. The first product offering was The 100 Greatest Books Ever Written, a series of exquisite, leather-bound editions of literary classics. The firm became an international marketer in 1976, inaugurating our European Division with the opening of MBI UK's London office, which developed extensive Danbury Mint collections, tailored for the British market.

I’ve inherited a large collection of Danbury Mint 1/24 die cast models from my father. I believe there are over 150 cars. Amongst those are LTD. I’m looking to sell the collection as a whole. Can anyone please contact me? I’m compiling a list and photos. These are all new never displayed or bought used. They are all direct from Danbury Mint not second hand.

I have several Danbury Mint cars and was checking prices. I was thinking that since they are no longer making these cars that the value would go up. What I'm finding is that brand new in the box with documentation is not even selling for what I originally paid. I realize that it depends on the model but this xk120 Jaguar is a prime example. Has this been your experience and is this what I can expect?
Yes, I'm afraid a lot of Danbury Mints aren't really collectible, even when they're not made anymore. It's just a matter of supply and demand. There are probably a lot of Jaguars out there. Take a look here for prices: Danbury Mint Jaguar.

I recently acquired roughly 1,000 Danbury and Franklin Mint cars, tanks, boats, gas stations, etc...90% with box and papers, 10% bubble-wrapped. Do you have a suggestion (besides eBay) on where/who I might contact to liquidate a collection that size?

I see some 1 12 Danbury Mint priced cars above that seem very high resell figures in your listings above. Are they half the size of the 1 24 units since I have never seen a 1 12 scale unit?

Thank you so much for your response :-) I have a few cars for sale and the Certificates of Title reflect the current owner's name. Do you think it would affect the value to black-out the name?
I wouldn't do that. The new owner can decide what to do with them. If you're concerned about privacy, just leave the certificates with names out of the sales. I don't think they will add more value with names on them anyway :-)
Kelly - October 8, 2020
Are the Danbury Mint model cars worth more if they have the box and/or Certificate of Title?
Always :-) But of course it depends on the models if they are worth much more or not.

I inherited my uncles model car collection... what’s the best way for me to find the value of each car?
Prices can differ quite a lot, so what I would do is get on eBay, search all Danbury Mint cars, and sort from highest priced to low. Look if they are in your collection. This is a quick way to get some idea about what your collection might be worth. There are also a few collectors groups on Facebook, so you could also ask there.

I've inherited from my Dad, a Danbury Mint collection of cars (59 cars), 90% in boxes with certificate of tile. Im looking to get rid of as a whole collection, hopefully. But I have no idea where to start looking, any ideas?
You could try eBay as a lot, or maybe there are some Facebook groups, dedicated to collectors of Danbury Mint models.

I am looking for a buyer for this 142 vintage models that start with 1925 ford Model T Tow Truck and ends with 1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1, worth in excess of $20,000. Serious collector inquiries only reply to me by email
