Hoge trains

Hoge Mfg. Co., founded in 1909 in Manhattan, NY by Hampden Hoge, who left the company by 1919. Hoge produced only office supplies until 1931, when Henry Katz dissolved his company and came to manage Hoge's new model railroad and toy division.

The company contracted Mattatuck for the construction of their toy designs. Toys included stamped steel passenger and animated circus cars as well as electric and clockwork trains & locomotives.

The line ceased in 1939 and Hoge was bought and dissolved by Mattatuck in 1958. The name is currently the property of Robert Hoge, a Hoge toy collector but no direct relation to the original founder.

I have the Hoge Circus train with the 750 engine. I am in need of the proper tender for it. Does anyone have one for sale or know where I can get one?
Quite rare and difficult to find. Maybe one of the other visitors can help or else try and ask here on this blog about: hoge circus train.

I have a M10000 set that consist of engine and 2 passenger cars plus 1 end car, Engine is marked union pacific over windows and united state's railway post office under windows. I thought this was made by Marx.
Yes, but Hoge also made these trains, though they are hard to find. Take a look at this page for more info: toy and train guides.

I have a Hoge with the words UNITED on the side of each door, and the number 0 after the UNITED. It is red like the fire chief, but I have been unable to find a duplicate anywhere. Any suggestions where to look for different models? Thanks Todd

Hello Jeff, I have what I believe to be a Hoge motor in very good running condition. It is different from the 900 motor because it has a front plate that holds drive rods. I did find an example of the 900 train, but have not been able to find out what engine my motor belongs to. If interested let me know and I can send you pictures.
Jeff wrote: Yes, I would be very interested in this. I am hoping that at least one set of the wheels are plain, with a simple flange without a place to attach drive rods.

I am looking for a non-powered wheel for a Hoge 900 motor. I have the other three wheels, but would love to see this run. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's difficult to find Hoge Stream Line parts, but lets hope other visitors to this page will reply Jeff!
